How do I create my new FPN email account?

  1. Navigate your browser to http://www.fpnmail.com

  2. Click on the "Web Admin" link located at the bottom right corner of the page.

  3. Enter your PPPoE username and password given to you by your install technicians.

  4. Fill out the Add User Form. (User login is where you enter your new email address, your email address will be whatever you choose, i.e. mynewemail@fpnmail.com ... The password field is where you create your new email password, be sure to remember it.)

  5. Click the "Add User" button.

  6. Access your email by logging in at http://www.fpnmail.com or by using an email client.

How do I setup my email client (i.e. Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, Thunderbird, etc.) to function with FPN Mail?

FPN Mail can utilize either IMAP or POP3 technology. Input the folliwing server settings into your email client options:

  • IMAP: imap.fpnmail.com
  • POP3: pop.fpnmail.com
  • SMTP: smtp.fpnmail.com

Be sure when entering your username, you enter your full email address, i.e. myemail@fpnmail.com.

Be sure to set outgoing smtp traffic to authenticate with your username and password.

More detailed email client configuration is below:

Outlook

  1. Navigate to Tools | E-mail Accounts




  2. Select "Add a new e-mail account" and click Next.



  3. For Server Type, select IMAP or POP3 and click Next.



  4. On Internet Email Settings, enter your information as follows:

    Your Name
    Enter your first and last name.

    Username
    Enter your full email address.

    Password
    Enter the password you setup for your email account.

    Incoming Mail Server
    Enter "imap.fpnmail.com" or "pop.fpnmail.com" depending on which server type you selected in Step 3.


    Outgoing Mail Server
    Enter "smtp.fpnmail.com".




    Be sure to click the "More Settings" button, select the Outgoing Server tab, and check the box that reads "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication".




  5. Click Finish.

How do I configure my router to connect to the ForePoint Network?

ForePoint Networks recommends and provides the Netgear RangeMax Wireless Router (WPN 824) as it has proven to outperform other routers in its class with our network settings. However, other routers may be adequate. Most router setup is similar regardless of brand. Here are the basic setup techniques for Netgear and Linksys brand routers (some menus may be slightly different depending on model and version):

Netgear

  1. Power on router and connect it to your computer with ethernet cable.

  2. Open a browser and type in the address, http://192.168.1.1
    (Note, some older models use the address of http://192.168.0.1)

  3. A username / password prompt will pop up.

  4. Enter username "admin" and password "password"

  5. If given the option, select the link "setup for advanced users".

  6. From the Basic Settings web interface, select "Yes" for "Does Your Internet Connection Require A Login?"

  7. Keep the "Internet Service Provider" drop down box at the default selection of "Other".

  8. Enter your PPPoE credentials provided by your install technicians in the Login / Password fields.

  9. Leave "Service Name" blank.

  10. Set "Idle Timeout" to "0" for an always on connection.

  11. Leave everything else as default and click the "Apply" button.




Linksys

  1. Power on router and connect it to your computer with ethernet cable.

  2. Open a browser and type in the address, http://192.168.1.1

  3. A username / password prompt will pop up.

  4. Leave the username blank, enter "admin" for the password.

  5. From the Basic Settings web interface, select "PPPoE" from the "Internet Connection Type" drop down box.




  6. With PPPoE having been selected, enter your PPPoE username and password that was provided by your install technicians.

  7. Leave everything else as default and click the "Save Settings" button.

How do I configure my Windows XP computer if I'm not using a router?

If you are no longer using a router to authenticate to the network or have yet to set up a new computer to connect to the network, use the following steps to create a PPPoE client and authenticate to the network.

* The following assumes you are running Windows XP. If you are running Windows Vista, click here. Windows 95/98/2000/ME/NT does not have its own native PPPoE client. (a router can be used instead)

1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and double-click Network and Internet connections.

2. Double-click the Network Connections icon.

3. Click "Create a new connection" in the Network Tasks pane.

4. The New Connection Wizard window will appear, click Next.

5. With "Connect to the Internet" selected, click Next.

6. Select "Set up my connection manually", click Next.

7. Select "Connect using a broadband connection that requires a username and password", click Next.

8. Enter "ForePoint Networks" in the "ISP Name" box, click Next.

9. Enter your PPPoE username and password, click Next.

10. Check the "Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop" box, click Finish.

11. To authenticate to the network, click Connect.

12. A ForePoint Networks icon will be on your desktop. To connect again, double-click this icon and click Connect.

How do I configure my Windows Vista computer if I'm not using a router?

If you are no longer using a router to authenticate to the network or have yet to set up a new computer to connect to the network, use the following steps to create a PPPoE client and authenticate to the network.

* The following assumes you are running Windows Vista. If you are running Windows XP, click here. Windows 95/98/2000/ME/NT does not have its own native PPPoE client. (a router can be used instead)

1. Click Start, then Control Panel, then Network and Internet, then Network and Sharing Center, then on the left, select "Setup a connection or network".

2. Select "Connect to the Internet" and then press the Next button.

3. Select Broadband (PPPoE).

4. Enter your User name, Password and "ForePoint Networks" for the Connection name and make sure that the "Remember this password" option is selected, then click Connect.

5. Return to the Network and Sharing Center Window then on the left, select "Manage Network Connections"

6. Right click on "ForePoint Networks" and select Create Shortcut. Select Yes prompted with the message "Windows cannot create a shortcut here. Do you want the shortcut to be placed on the desktop instead?"

7. A ForePoint Networks icon will be on your desktop. To connect again, double-click this icon and click Connect.
